And so it begins. I began the demolition of the master bathroom. And when I say master bathroom, I really mean a bedroom of the original house that a previous owner had converted into a master bathroom adjoining the newly created master bedroom that was an addition to the house.
Here is the original glory I was working with (taken after I cleared out my nice and tidy sundry lotions, potions, and brick-a-brack).
Well, that doesn’t look too bad, you might say to yourself. Look closer, my pretty.
No, the tiles do not, in fact, line up here.
Or there.
Or anywhere, really.
And so I aim to make this bathroom a spectacular place. I’m keeping the spa tub and the toilet, but they needed to be moved. So for Demo Day One, my dear partner’s eldest daughter helped me play with sledgehammers and pry bars.
No more toilet.
No more tub surround.
No more tub.
I was pleasantly surprised to only find some minor water damage back next to the shower since the grout at the glass block base was gouged out when I moved in. I promptly regrouted the shower, and I’m still expecting to find some nasty water damage around there.
My dumpster arrives on Wednesday, so I’ll be completing demo next weekend. Until then, be good to those around you. They might have sledgehammers. Or prybars.
We have Bob the Builder to thank for that bathroom. Good think the second coming of Rosie the Riveter is on it 🙂
And slowly, but surely, the remnants of Bob the Builder will all be replaced by Rosie the Riveter!
So excited to watch your progress!! We need to gut ours (shower is 32″ square) and you are inspiring me!!
This one was 32×34. You can do it!!!
